Original value

Every published guide or tool must add decision value beyond summarizing another page. That value may be a calculation, a structured comparison, a route-specific checklist, a tested workflow or clearly explained editorial judgment.

Source hierarchy

For operational facts, we prioritize the responsible government agency, official reservation platform, campground operator, manufacturer or documented primary source. Secondary sources may provide context but should not replace an available primary source.

Automation and human review

Software and AI may help with research organization, drafting, data normalization and quality checks. They do not replace source verification or owner approval. Material facts, recommendations and publication status require human review.

Commercial independence

Advertising, affiliate commissions and partnerships do not determine our factual conclusions. Sponsored material must be labeled. Affiliate links may generate compensation at no added cost to the reader.

Updates and corrections

Time-sensitive pages should display a reviewed or updated date. When a material error is confirmed, we correct it promptly and explain significant changes where context is useful. Readers can use our Corrections Policy to report an issue.

Evidence before opinion

Every factual claim on this site should be traceable to a source a reader can open. Agency pages come first, then the reservation platform that holds the inventory, then the manufacturer. Where we reason beyond the record — estimating drive time, judging whether a pad suits a particular rig — the page says it is judgement and explains the reasoning so you can disagree with it.

Separating fact, estimate and judgement

Facts are dated and sourced. Estimates state their inputs and their margin. Judgement is written in the first person plural so it reads as our view rather than an agency’s. Readers should never have to guess which of the three they are looking at.

Review and re-review

Time-sensitive pages — reservation windows, seasonal openings, fee tables, road status — are re-checked against the official record before each season and whenever an agency announces a change. The last review date is shown on the page. A guide that has not been re-checked does not get a fresh date.

Independence

No advertiser, affiliate partner or sponsor sees an article before publication, and none can request a change to a finding. Commercial relationships are disclosed on the page where they apply.
